Lawrenceville, NJ – The Rider University men's swimming and diving team defeated visiting Marist, 168-132, in their final home dual match of the 2017-18 campaign on Saturday afternoon at Coppola Pool inside the Maurer Center.
The Broncs bounced back strong after a season-opening setback at Seton Hall two weeks ago with their second straight dual-match victory.
Sophomore
Justin Carey (Landenberg, PA/Avon Grove) and senior
Zack Molloy (Toms River, NJ/Toms River HS North) both had stellar meets for Rider, winning four events each.
To start the day, Carey was part of the Bronc 200 medley relay quartet alongside alongside
Carter Paules (Emmaus, PA/Emmaus),
Maciej Paz (Garfield, NJ/Paramus Catholic) and
Daniel Bonge (Allentown, PA/Salisbury High School) that won with a time of 1:32.72. Carey also won the 100 back (49.38), 200 back (1:51.96) and 100 fly (49.35).
Molloy was a force in the pool, winning the 200 free with a time of 1:42.42. He also finished first in the 50 free (21.15), 100 free (45.66) and he was part of the 400 free relay that took first. The other Broncs taking part in the 400 free relay were Bonge, Paz and
Vincent Gibbons (North Brunswick, NJ/North Brunswick).
The Rider divers posted strong showings once again on Saturday. Freshman
Dillon Walles (The Woodlands, TX/The Woodlands High School) finished second in the 1M with a mark of 311.10, while
Joseph Warker (Reading, PA/Wilson) came in fourth with 259.80. In the 3M, Warker came in third with a score of 266.78 and Walles with fourth (265.58). Â

Justin Carey was named the MAAC Men's Swimmer of the Week on Wednesday afternoon. It was his second time this season receiving the honor and the fifth time in his young career. Â
- Molloy broke his own pool record in the 100 free. He has set new pool records in back-to-back dual meets.
