WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- Rider hosts Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) rival Bryant on Saturday, January 19, on campus at Coppola Pool. The Broncs will honor their seniors before the meet for their contributions to the program. It is Rider's last home meet during the 2018-19 season.
- The men enter the meet with a 5-1 overall record and 2-0 mark against conference opponents after defeating Marist and Monmouth earlier this season. The women go into the weekend with a 3-4 record and 2-1 mark versus MAAC opponents thanks to defeating Siena and Monmouth earlier this winter.
- On the women's side, freshman
Caylie Cardona was tabbed as the MAAC Women's Swimmer of the Week in early December. She set a new program record in the 200 breast with a time of 2:22.27. Also on the women's side,
Kylie McMahon has been named the MAAC Women's Swimmer of the Week three times this season and junior
Meg Tomayko has once been honored as the MAAC Women's Diver of the Week.
- On the men's side, sophomore
Dillon Walles has been honored as the MAAC Men's Diver of the Week a conference-best four times this season and junior
Justin Carey has once been recognized as the MAAC Men's Swimmer of the Week.
- On Tuesday, senior
Joseph Warker became the second Bronc diver to earn weekly recognition from the conference this year as he was tabbed as the MAAC Men's Diver of the Week. Warker had a strong meet on the boards for the Broncs in a dual meet with Monmouth. Warker won the 3M with a score of 313.35 and he also qualified the NCAA Division I Zone A Diving Championships in the 1M as Rider defeated the Hawks for the fourth season in a row. It was the sixth time in his career that he was recognized as the MAAC Men's Diver of the Week.
- Last time out, both the men and women defeated Monmouth at home. The women by a score of 178-92 and the men took down the Hawks, 158-112.
- In the meet with the Hawks, Freshman
Maire Wilson had a strong day as she finished first in both the 1,000 free (11:11.55) and the 500 free (5:27.27). Junior
Olivia Iswalt also picked up two wins on the day, finishing first overall in both the 50 free (24.88) and the 100 free (55.32). Freshmen
Kyra Schwerzler and
Kylie McMahon each won two individual events as well for the Broncs. Schwerzler came in first in the 100 breast (1:08.01) and the 200 breast (2:29.62), while McMahon won the 100 fly (58.06) and the 200 fly (2:11.48).
- On the boards for the women against Monmouth, junior
Meg Tomayko won the 1M with a score of 257.48. Senior
Breanne Hatter landed in second-place at 248.26 and sophomore
Meagan Fornero ended up in third with a total score of 211.20.
- On the men's side against Monmouth, it was a day to remember for senior
Lucas Musselman as set a new pool record in the 200 IM. Musselman broke the oldest standing pool-record (14 years) with a time of 1:53.21. Freshman
Webster Bozzo had a strong day in the pool for the Broncs, winning the 100 back with a time of 53.91. He also added a second-place finish in the 200 back at 1:57.32. Freshman
David Cooper also added a win for Rider in the 200 breast with a time of 2:13.66. Cooper also racked up a second-place finish in the 1,000 free (10:28.45).
- In the diving events for the men versus the Hawks, senior
Joseph Warker posted an NCAA Division I Zone A qualifying mark in the 1M. He also won the 3m with a score of 313.35.
