BUFFALO, NY – The Rider University men's swimming and diving team set two more records on the second day of the 2018 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championships on Thursday evening. The four-day event takes place February 14-17 at the Burt Flickinger Athletic Center at Erie Community College.
After the second day of action, the Broncs remain in first-place overall with 241 points, while Marist is close behind with 238 points in second-place. Â Â
Rider got strong performances from a trio of student-athletes in the 50 free led by senior
Zack Molloy (Toms River, NJ/Toms River HS North). Molloy won the event and took home gold with a new MAAC and Rider record time of 19.66. Finishing in second behind Zack, was junior
Vincent Gibbons (North Brunswick, NJ/North Brunswick). Gibbons earned a silver medal with a time of 20.11, while freshman
Alexander Trauger (Mount Laurel, NJ/Lenape Regional High School) landed in fifth-place in the event with a time of 20.87.
Junior
Lucas Musselman (Timonium, MD/Loyola Blakefield) brought home his second gold medal of the Championships, finishing first in the 200 individual medley with a time of 1:48.33.
In the men's 3M diving event, both freshman
Dillon Walles (The Woodlands, TX/The Woodlands High School) and junior Joe Warker (Reading, PA/Wilson) finished in the top-seven. Walles ended up in third-place with a score of 319.60 in the finals, while Warker earned a seventh-place finish with a mark of 277.75.Â
To close out the night, the Broncs 200 free relay took home gold and set a new MAAC record with a time of 1:20.06. The Rider quartet of Gibbons, Musselman,
Maciej Paz (Garfield, NJ/Paramus Catholic) and Molloy finished first to score 40 pivotal points for the Broncs.

Maciej Paz came in 10th-place in the 50 free with a time of 20.94.

Carter Paules ended up in 12th-place in the 200 individual medley with a time of 1:53.86.

Porter Barnes finished right behind Paules in the 200 individual medley in 13th at 1:53.89.

Brendan Blood landed in 16th-place in the 500 free thanks to posting a time of 4:43.94.
- Patrick Rollefson came in 12th in the 3M diving with a score of 175.95 in the finals.Â
