LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – The Rider University men's swimming and diving team had a dominant victory Saturday over Mount St. Mary's, 212-79. The Broncs improve to 4-2 on the season, while the Mountaineers fall to 3-2.
The Bronc men won 13 events in the meet.
Rider got off to a strong start in the 200-medley relay.
Lucas Racevicius (Watertown, CT/Holy Cross),
Billy Ruddy (Newton, NJ/Kittatinny Regional),
Nicholas Lane (Hackettstown, NJ/Lane Academy), and
Bobby Irwin (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill East) earned the win with a time of 1:31.49.
The Broncs then got a sweep in the 1,000-free with
Derek Fantano (Morris, CT/Holy Cross),
Matt Lequang (Plainsboro, NJ/Notre Dame), and
Matthew Borovik (Deerfield, IL/Deerfield) stopping the clock at 10:08.52, 10:12.21, and 10:17.32.
Ethan Rogowski (Waterford, NY/Shenendehowa) then won the 200-free in 1:43.28.
In the 100-back, Lane and
David Rucci (Sewell, NJ/Gateway Regional) finished one-two. Lane would later go one-two in the 100-fly with Irwin. The pair stopped the clock at 51.05 and 51.67.
Irwin and
Nelson Paraison were one-two in the 200-fly with times of 1:56.39 and 1:59.53.
Christian Overton (Westampton, NJ/Rancocas Valley) and Racevicius were one-two in 50-free, swimming 20.61 and 20.94. Overton and Fantano would later swim one-two in the 200-back with times of 1:50.44 and 1:55.10.
Marcas Racevicius (Watertown, CT/Holy Cross) and
Stavros Xantheas went one-two on the 1-meter with a scores of 250.35 and 248.55 and the 3-meter with scores of 292.58 and 201.08.
Rider earned another sweep in the 500-free with Rogowski,
Andrew Smolar (Washingtonville, NY/Washingtonville), and
Brayden Murphy (Victor, NY/Victor Senior) touching the wall at 4:46.63, 4:52.42, and 4:53.53.
Rucci and Murphy were one-two in the 200-IM, swimming 1:57.27 and 2:00.77.
The Broncs closed out the meet with a win in the 400-free relay. Rogowski, Overton,
Alex Boeckx (Folsom, PA/Ridley) and Racvicius stopped the clock at 3:06.04.
NOTES & QUOTES
- Overton set a pool record in the 50-free.
- The 200-medley relay team broke the pool record they previously set in the opening meet of the season against Seton Hall.
- Smolar was also third in the 200-free.
- Boeckx and Ruddy swam two-three in the 100-breast.
