BUFFALO, NY – The Rider University men's swimming and diving team is leading the way on their pursuit of a tenth-straight conference championship after one day of competition at the 2022 MAAC Championships. The Broncs have 70 points, tied with Fairfield for the top spot. Monmouth, Iona, and Niagara are tied at 60 points in third.
In the opening event of the day,
Lucas Racevicius (Watertown, CT/Holy Cross),
David Cooper (Spring, TX/Klein Oak),
Jack Ruggieri (Bellmawr, NJ/Gloucester Catholic), and
Joe Gewartowski (Fort Washington, PA/Upper Dublin) won the 200-medley relay in a time of 1:28.03, just two-tenths off of the MAAC record.
In the 800-free relay,
Christian Overton, Racevicius,
Nicholas Lane (Hackettstown, NJ/Lane Academy), and
Kyle Iorizzo (Norwood, NJ/Old Tappan Regional) swam 6:42.46 for fourth.
