BUFFALO, NY – The Rider University men's swimming and diving team extended its lead in pursuit of a tenth-straight MAAC Championship on Friday. The Broncs now lead with 473 points, ahead of second-placed Fairfield's 378.
Jack Ruggieri (Bellmawr, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) got the Broncs off to a strong start in the 100-fly, taking second with a time of 48.73.
Nicholas Lane (Hackettstown, NJ/Lane Academy) claimed eighth in the race, touching the wall at 49.65.
David Rucci (Sewell, NJ/Gateway Regional),
Brayden Murphy (Victor, NY/Victor Senior), and
Christian Overton were second, seventh, and eighth in the 400-IM. The group stopped the clock at 3:58.73, 4:05.27, and 4:14.79, respectively.
In the 100-breast,
David Cooper (Spring, TX/Klein Oak) swam 55.45 for fifth place.
Lucas Racevicius (Watertown, CT/Holy Cross) and Overton swam two-three in the 100-back, posting times of 48.12 and 49.63.
The Broncs closed out the day with a win in the 400-medley relay. Racevicius, Cooper, Ruggieri, and
Joe Gewartowski (Fort Washington, PA/UpperDublin) stopped the clock at 3:17.88.
