Field Hockey Faces LIU Brooklyn on Sunday in MAAC Action

What You Need To Know
- Rider will play its third home contest on the season on Sunday, October, coming off a 3-2 overtime loss at Ben Cohen Field in non-conference play to La Salle on Thursday afternoon.
- The Broncs are 1-1 at home this autumn.
- Last time out, the Blackbirds fell to Georgetown, 9-0. Earlier this season, LIU Brooklyn defeated Fairfield, 2-1, for its first win in program history. The victory was also the first-ever for the Blackbirds in MAAC play.
- Rider has shutout three opponents this year.
- The Broncs are 1-5 in one-goal games in 2017.
- Thursday's game was the first for Rider to go to overtime since last season's MAAC Semifinals.   
- Rider leads the all-time series,1-0. The Broncs defeated the Blackbirds, 9-0, last season. The meeting in 2016 was the first-ever between the two teams.
- Rider has played nine of their first 11 games on the road this year.  
- Rider is outscoring opponents, 13-6, in the second half in 2017.
- Three Rider first-year players have been honored by the MAAC. Eline De Jong was named the MAAC Rookie of the Week on August 29, goalkeeper Lena Vandam was tabbed as the MAAC Defensive Player of the Week on September 5 and Kaitlyn Flemming was honored as the MAAC Rookie of the Week on September 19.
- This season, Vandam is 5-6 with 1.55 goals-against average, a .788 save percentage and 63 saves. She has posted three shutouts and played over 700 minutes. Versus La Salle, she posted 11 saves. It marked the third time in her young career that she has turned aside 10 or more shots.  
- Senior Allison Baligian leads the team in goals and points. She has scored five times this fall and added three assists for 13 points. Baligian also has a team-best two game-winning goals in 2017, including versus Colgate last Sunday.  
- De Jong is second on the team with four goals and three assists for 11 points.
- Senior Shannon Hughes leads the team with six assists and is third on the squad with eight points.
- Both Flemming and Jessica Randazzo have added three goals apiece for the Broncs.
- Against the Explorers on Thursday, both Jade Freeberg and Tess Correns scored their first goals of the season.
