Field Hockey Defeated at Colgate

HAMILTON, NY – The Rider University field hockey team was defeated Sunday afternoon, falling 4-1 at Colgate. The Broncs fall to 0-2 on the season, while the Raiders improve to 2-0.
 
Rider got its first opportunity midway through the first quarter, drawing a penalty corner, but shots from Caroline Mauer (Weisbaden, Germany/Humboldt Schule) and Ang Borisow (Harleysville, PA/Souderton) were both saved. Colgate quickly countered scoring three goals in the remainder of the frame, and held the 3-0 lead into the half.
 
Colgate added on in the third, scoring late in the quarter to push the advantage to 4-0.
 
Rider finally broke through with jus under five minutes left to play when Emma Bonshak (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall) and Mauer found Amanda Walker (Stockton, NJ/Hunterdon Central), to break up the shutout.
