Championship Field Hockey coming to Rider University
Broncs host the NEC Championship for the Second Year in a Row 

LAWRENCEVILLE--For those who want to see some of the best field hockey in the nation, you will have the opportunity without the long commute as local field hockey power Rider University will host the four-team Northeast Conference championship for the second year in a row.

All games will take place on Rider's New Turf Field where the Broncs went 7-0 during the regular season.

On Friday at 11am, third seed Bryant University takes on second seed Monmouth University in the first semifinal and Rider, the top seed, hosts fourth seeded Quinnipiac University in the second semifinal at 1:30pm.

The championship game will be at noon on Saturday.

Rider (14-3, 8-0 NEC), which won back to back regular season conference titles, is led by junior Virginia Egusquiza (Getxo, Spain) who has 10 goals and 20 assists and freshman Sandra Penas (Barcelona, Spain) who had 13 goals and six assists.

Local product junior Megan Pisani (Plainsboro/West Windsor-Plainsboro North) led the Broncs with 15 goals and junior goalie Rebecca Lotito (Oceanport/Shore Regional) leads the nation in save percentage (.833) and goals against average (0.51).

Rider enters the tournament on an 11-game winning streak.

This is the 11th year in a row that Rider has qualified for the four-team NEC playoffs, all under head coach Lori Hussong and the Broncs have advanced to the NEC Title game eight times in the last 10 seasons, winning the championship in 2000, 2002 and 2004.

Tickets are $6.00 for adults and $3.00 for youth (10-18) and seniors (55+).  Children under 10 and student-athletes with a Northeast Conference ID will be admitted free.
