LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – Rider University graduate track & field student-athlete
Teagan Schein-Becker has been accepted into U.S. Olympic Team Trials in both the 800 and 1500 meters, USA Track & Field has announced. Schein-Becker's time of 2:00.54 in the 800 meters at the Portland Track Festival this past Sunday, June 9, positioned her just outside the automatic qualifying, while her time of 4:08.85 in the 1500 meters at the NCAA Quarterfinals in late May punched her ticket.
The first competition in the 800 meters from the University of Oregon's Hayward Field takes place Friday, June 21, at 7:17 p.m., with semifinals and finals to follow on June 23 and 24, respectively. Competition in the 1500 meters begins Thursday, June 27, at 8:23 p.m., with the semifinals and finals to follow on June 28 and 30, respectively.
A Second Team All-American after finishing 11
th in the 1500 meters at NCAA Championships on June 8, Schein-Becker becomes the first track & field athlete from Rider to compete at Olympic Trials since Emily Ritter '15 competed at the 2016 U.S. Olympic Trials in the 3000 meter steeplechase.
