What You Need To Know
- Both Saturday and Sunday's match will be broadcast live on BroncVision.
- On Sunday, the Broncs will be honoring their five graduating senior team members, Morgan Romano (Oviedo, FL/Hagerty), Ella Weinbeck (Orono, MN/Orono), Alicia Iafrate (Closter, NJ/Demarest), Pamela Loh (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Hendrick Hudson), and Morgan Koch (Bloomington, IL/Central Catholic).
- The Broncs were selected second by the league's coaches in the MAAC Preseason Poll. Rider finished second behind Fairfield during the regular season and reached the MAAC Championship match before falling to the Stags.
-The Broncs won a program-record 14 MAAC matches to earn a program-best two seed in last year's tournament. The Broncs had previously finished third in 2004, 2018, and 2019.
- Rider topped Siena last time out in four sets. Julia Slivka (Adamstown, MD/Tuscarora) had her seventh double-double of the season with 10 assists and 10 digs in the match.
- Romano was named to First-Team All-MAAC honors by the league last season. Romano was also named to the preseason All-MAAC team.
- With another All-Conference honor, Romano would become the first player in program history to earn four All-MAAC honors during her career.
- Romano now has 1,501 career kills, good for third in program history after passing Hailey Riede '19 in Rider's match at George Washington. Next on the list is Jaclyn Levi '05, who ended her career with 1,546.
- In the Broncs' first tournament of the season, the dōTERRA Classic, freshman Carley McAleavey (Smithtown, NY/Smithtown West) earned All-Tournament honors after racking up 15 kills on .250 hitting over the three matches.
- McAleavey ranks fifth among all players in the MAAC with a .294 hitting percentage.
- At the Steel Classic Tournament, Loh and Brynn Johnson (River Falls, WI/River Falls) earned All-Tournament Team honors. Johnson had 16 kills on .200 hitting across the three matches to go along with five blocks. Loh had 32 digs in the three matches, led by a 16 dig effort in Rider's win over Cleveland State.
- Loh now has 914 career digs. She is attempting to become just the 16th Bronc in program history to reach 1,000 for her career.
- In the Dig for the District Tournament, Nicole Wilkinson (New Castle, IN/New Castle) and Slivka earned All-Tournament honors. Wilkinson exploded with 11 kills and five blocks against George Washington, both career-highs. She finished the weekend with 17 kills on .297 hitting. Slivka had 69 assists and 24 digs in the three matches during the tournament. In Rider's win over Georgetown, Slivka had her third double-double of the season with 31 assists and 13 digs, while also adding five aces.
- Canisius leads the all-time series over the Broncs 31-15, including a four set victory in the first meeting. Molly Strah (Akron, OH/Archbishop Hoban) had a career-high 19 digs in that match.
- The Golden Griffins are 10-13 overall and 8-6 in MAAC play, good for fifth in the conference currently.
- Ella Bourque, eight-time MAAC Rookie of the Week, guides the Canisius offense at setter. She is averaging 9.86 assists per set this season.
- Niagara leads the all-time series 25-16, including a three-set sweep earlier this season. Kianny Santiago (San Juan, PR/Hudson Catholic (NJ)) had a career-high 14 digs in the match.
- The Purple Eagles are 7-17 on the year, with a 5-9 MAAC mark. Niagara is currently the eighth seed in the league.
- Bella Peroni leads the Niagara defense with 303 digs this season, good for fourth in the MAAC this year.
