PISCATAWAY, NJ - The Rider University volleyball team was defeated Saturday night on the final day at the Rutgers Classic, falling to the hosts 25-20, 25-18, 25-15. The Broncs fall to 1-7 on the season, while the Scarlet Knights improve to 7-2.

With the Broncs leading 7-6 in the opening set, Rutgers took the lead with a 4-0 run. Rider continued to fight throughout the set, getting back within one on four different occasions, but were unable to tie the set. Leading 19-18, Rutgers used a 5-1 run to pull away.

The Scarlet Knights took a 5-0 lead in set two, but leading 6-1, Rider countered with a 6-1 run of its own, including kills by
Molly Rohde (Hortonville, WI/Hortonville),
Anja Kelly (Naperville, IL/Neuqua Valley), and
Aubrey Baker (Vestal, NY/Vestal[Merrimack]), to tie the set. With the Scarlet Knights leading 18-15, Rutgers scored four-straight and went on to win the set.

Down 2-1 in the third, Rider went on a 4-0 run, capped by back-to-back aces from Rohde. With Rider holding a 6-3 lead, Rutgers countered with a 6-0 run, then up 13-11, the Scarlet Knights added an 8-1 run to secure the set and the match.
