PISCATAWAY, NJ - The Rider University volleyball team was defeated Friday afternoon at the Rutgers Classic, falling to Stony Brook 25-16, 25-22, 25-12. The Broncs fall to 1-6 on the season, while the Seawolves improve to 5-4.

Already holding a 7-4 lead in the opening set, the Seawolves scored seven-straight points to extend the advantage. With Stony Brook holding a 24-13 lead, Rider fought off three set points, including kills from
Rylah Robinson (Fairfax, VA/Robinson) and
Tori Bonacci (Downingtown, PA/Bishop Shanahan), but the Seawolves would get the point to secure the set.

Rider fought back in set two, scoring the first three points on the serve of
Makenna Mason (Hilton Head Island, SC/Hilton Head). But with Rider leading 8-4, the Seawolves answered with four-straight to tie the set. Tied 15-15,
Maisie Nawrocki (Willoughby, OH/Willoughby South) got a kill, then the Broncs forced a Stony Brook error to take a 17-15 lead, but the Seawolves immediately responded with a 5-1 run to take a lead in the set they would not relinquish.

Holding a 4-3 lead in the third, Stony Brook scored five-straight. Later in the set, leading 9-5, the Seawolves put the match out of reach with a 9-0 run.
