PRINCETON, NJ – The Rider University men's track and field team opened action at the 2019 ECAC Outdoor Championships on Saturday afternoon.
The Broncs got two All-East performances on the day.
"We had some really great performances today," Rider Head Coach
Bob Hamer said. "Ragusa continues his spectacular freshman season to finish second in the javelin. Ragusa is such a great competitor and he continues to compete at a high level at every meet. It will be very exciting at the NCAA preliminary round in a few weeks."
Freshman
Anthony Ragusa (Old Bridge, NJ/Old Bridge) finished in second-place in the javelin to earn All-East honors. He recorded a throw of 64.63m.
"Oyewole is another freshman that has had a tremendous freshman year," Hamer noted. "He has been very consistent with his jumping in the championship meets. He has a very bright future."
Ayo Oyewole (Colonia, NJ/Colonia) also earned All-East distinction thanks to registering a fourth-place finish in the long jump. Oyewole posted a mark of 7.21m.
"Long ran great today," Hamer added. "He finally got into a race that went and he took full advantage of the opportunity. He has done a great job this year and I'm looking forward to great senior year."
Tom Long (Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) finished in 11th-place in the 800 with a personal-best time of 1:51.73.
The Broncs close out the 2019 ECAC Outdoor Championships on Sunday afternoon.
