PHILADELPHIA, PA – The Rider University men's track and field team continued action at the 125th Penn Relays on Friday at Franklin Field.
On the second day of the three-day event, the Broncs got strong performances from a pair of relays.
The 4x100 relay quartet of
Mike Cephas (Vineland, NJ/Vineland),
Benjamin Aidoo (Sayreville, NJ/Sayreville),
Marcquis Smallwood (Budd Lake, NJ/Mt. Olive) and
Ayo Oyewole (Colonia, NJ/Colonia) posted an IC4A-qualifying time of 42.34.
The 4x400 relay of
James Green (Timonium, MD/Dulaney),
Tahkwan Ingraham (Union, NJ/Union),
Russell Malko (Whitehouse Station, NJ/Hunterdon Central) and
Jerome Boyer (Edison, NJ/Edison) qualified for the Eastern Final with an IC4A-qualifying time of 3:14.34.
"Much like yesterday it took until the end of the day for us to really have the success that we have desired," Rider Head Coach
Bob Hamer said. "The men's 4x400 ran a very good race. The last three legs were really good for us. Malko ran a great leg and Boyer finished it off. We will make the Eastern final tomorrow so we get an opportunity to improve on this."
The Broncs conclude the Penn Relays on Saturday in Philly. The team will also send student-athletes to compete at the Lions Invitational hosted by TCNJ.
