PHILADELPHIA, PA – The Rider University men's outdoor track and field team opened the 2019 outdoor season on Saturday at the Penn Challenge. The one-day event featured 11 teams and was contested at Franklin Field.
The Bronc men won a pair of events and saw a pair of IC4A-qualifying performances on Saturday.
Senior
Nate Bowie (Matawan, NJ/Matawan) won the 110-meter hurdles with an IC4A-qualifying time of 14.85.
The other win came from the Rider 4x100 quartet of
Mike Cephas (Vineland, NJ/Vineland),
Benjamin Aidoo (Sayreville, NJ/Sayreville),
Marcquis Smallwood (Budd Lake, NJ/Mt. Olive) and
Julian Santana (Vineland, NJ/Vineland) finished first overall with a time of 42.65.
In the javelin throw,
Anthony Ragusa (Old Bridge, NJ/Old Bridge) came in fourth-place with an IC4A-qualifying toss of 59.16m.

- Rider returns to action next weekend competing in a pair of events. The Broncs will host the Rider 5-Way Meet on Saturday, March 30. The team will also send student-athletes down South to compete in the two-day Raleigh Relays hosted by NC State.

Darnell St. Clair finished second in the triple jump with a leap of 14.30m.

Devynn Lee was third in the triple jump with a mark of 13.89m.

Chris Bagnell landed in fifth-place in the javelin throw with a toss of 53.97m.

Benjamin Aidoo also added a third-place finish in the 100 at 11.08.

Marcquis Smallwood was third in the 200 with a time of 22.39.

Mike Cephas also added a fifth-place result in the 200 at 22.43.
