Baseball Adds Two More Recruits

The Broncs get a pair of experienced players for the 2019 season

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – Rider University Baseball Head Coach Barry Davis has announced the signing of two experienced college players. Infielder Zach Fick and outfielder/first basemen Jack Peterson have filled out their paperwork and will join the Broncs for the 2019 campaign.

Zach Fick
Fick starred most recently at Elgin Community College in Illinois. His team captured the 2017 regional championship and last season he was named team captain. Also in 2018, ECC captured the Skyway Conference Championship with a 17-3 record. In postseason play, he led the team in batting average (.481), on-base percentage (.563) and slugging percentage (.630). Last spring he led NJCAA nationwide in double plays for middle infielders through the regular season (28 DPs) and ranked third overall in assists for regular season. He was also a two-time academic all-conference honoree. In total, he hit .309 over his two-year career at ECC with 99 hits, four homers, 52 RBIs, 72 runs scored and 29 stolen bases.

Davis on Fick
"Zach will give us needed depth and versatility in the middle infield.  A two-year starter in a competitive junior college league, his overall skill set will certainly add to a potentially solid infield.  We are excited to add him and look forward to watching him develop over the next two years."

Jack Peterson
Peterson most recently played for the County College of Morris after starring for four years at North Hunterdon High School. Last season at CCM, he hit .353 with a .446 on-base percentage and a .660 slugging percentage. He totaled 53 hits, 39 RBIs and scored 49 runs. He posted the second-best single-season homerun total CCM history with 10 bombs and added 12 doubles. His 10 homers were tops in Region 19 for the season. In 2018, he earned First Team Division II Baseball All-Region 19 honors, First Team Division II All-GSAC distinction, was twice tabbed as the GSAC Player of the Week and earned CCM's 2017-18 Titan Award.

Davis on Peterson
"Jack will provide some much needed offensive punch to our line-up, potentially playing both corner outfield positions and first base if needed.  We are excited to have him, feeling his best baseball is ahead of him."
