Rider at Fastrack National Invite
STATEN ISLAND, NY—The Broncs competed at the Fastrack National Invite Friday night at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.
“We had a really nice day today,” said Rider head coach Bob Hamer. “We had many PRs and some ECAC and IC4A qualifiers which was the goal.”
For the Rider women, senior Miranda Roberts (Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) placed sixth and set a new Rider record in the pole vault (11'9.75"). “The highlight was Miranda's new Rider record in the pole vault and ECAC qualifier,” Hamer said. “She has been so close this season so it was great to see her breakthrough. She is having a great season. She had one nice attempt at the next height. She will get that new height soon.”
Senior Stephanie Welte (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Basil's Academy) won the mile in a PR 4:58.66. “Welte ran a great race today in the mile,” Hamer said. “She has come such a long way in four years. She has battled a lot of injuries and setbacks but she kept trying to knock down that wall. Today it came down for her when she broke 5:00 for the first time to qualify for ECACs. I'm really excited for her.”
