Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Match

LAWRENCEVILLE—Saving the best for last.

The Rider University women's tennis team snapped an eight-match losing streak, defeating Manhattan College 4-3 on Saturday afternoon in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference match.

“I'm so happy for the team to win the final match of the season,” said head coach Doug Potkay who saw the women's team finish 2-15, 1-7 in the MAAC in his first season.  “It was especially special being the final match for the seniors.  It's a nice way to go out.”

For the Broncs, freshman Montana Morris (Horsham, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) won 6-0, 6-0 at fourth singles and teamed up with fellow rookie Danielle Scrudato (Califon/Voorhees) for an 8-5 win at second doubles.

Morris won her second singles match of the season.

Manhattan only had four available players and defaulted in the fifth and sixth singles matches as well as at third doubles.

Rider celebrated senior day as this was the last match in the career of Michelle Caravaglio (Manalapan/Freehold).  Caravaglio won her opening set 6-3 before losing 7-5, 7-6 (10-8).

Rider returns four letterwinners for the 2015 fall season.
