HAMDEN, CT – Rider University sophomore
Claire Brown won a pair of matches to advance to the singles quarterfinals of the MAAC Masters Tournament on Friday.
Brown began the tournament by upsetting seventh-seeded Cloe Sorde Clements of Marist, 6-1, 6-4, before moving on to earn a 6-2, 6-2, victory over Isabella Pescatore of Mount St. Mary's. Brown will face top-seeded Willow Renton of Quinnipiac in Saturday's quarterfinals.

Lisa Dierick and
Anna Bong also competed on Friday. While both fell in the opening singles round, Dierick and Bong combined on a play-in round doubles victory over Merrimack's Kiana Thomson and Pia Vargas Lopez, 6-1. Dierick and Bong advance to tomorrow's first round against Renton and Caitlin Flower of Quinnipiac, the top-seeded duo in the tournament.
The 2025 MAAC Masters Tournament resumes tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. with the quarterfinals and semifinals of the singles bracket and the first round and quarterfinals of the doubles bracket. All competition for the remainder of the tournament will take place at Quinnipiac Athletic & Recreation Center in Hamden, Connecticut.
The 2025 MAAC Masters Tournament is a singles and doubles single-elimination tournament per gender, that will be held on Friday, October 3 through Sunday, October 5, 2025, at Quinnipiac Athletic & Recreation Center in Hamden, Connecticut and at Walsh Athletic Center Tennis Courts in Fairfield, Connecticut. Quinnipiac University will serve as the host of the tournament for the second straight year and Fairfield University for the first.
