LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – Lisa Dierick and
Elle Catanzarite earned singles victories, but the Rider University women's tennis team fell to Seton Hall, 5-2, Friday afternoon. With the loss, the Broncs even their record at 1-1, while the Pirates are 1-0.
After Seton Hall swept the doubles point, Dierick earned a 7-5, 6-4, victory at No. 2 singles over Imogen Brooker. The Pirates earned straight-sets victories at Nos. 1 and 5, while the final three matches were decided in third-set tiebreakers. Catanzarite got past Ellie Coe at No. 6, 1-6, 6-0, 10-5, while the Pirates took the other two.
Jolie Kaiser fell to Jaden Davidson, 6-1, 3-6, 11-9, at No. 3, while
Daniela Naves was defeated by Anastasia Sereda, 6-4, 4-6, 10-3, at No. 4.
The Broncs return to action Monday, when they play host to Towson at 3 p.m.
