Rider Associate AD Named to NCAA Field Hockey Committee

INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA-Rider University Senior Woman Administrator Karin Torchia has been appointed to the NCAA Division I Field Hockey Committee, the NCAA announced.

"It's an honor to have been appointed to the NCAA Division I Field Hockey Committee," said Torchia, now in her tenth year as an Associate Athletic Director at Rider. "I previously served on the NCAA Division I Women's Soccer Committee and I am very excited to once again serve on a national committee and be responsible for enacting the policies and guidelines governing a particular sport and taking part in the championship selection process as well."

Torchia serves as the sport administrator for men's and women's swimming & diving, field hockey, softball and volleyball at Rider.  She is primarily responsible for the promotion and marketing of all of Rider's 20 NCAA Division I varsity sports, coordinates the department of athletics' fundraising, advertising and corporate sponsorship programs and also oversees the cheerleaders, dance team, pep band, mascot, and the sports information department.

In 2006, Torchia acted as the volunteer coordinator for the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball First and Second Rounds and served in the same role for the 2009 NCAA Women's Basketball Championship Trenton Regional, both of which were co-hosted by Rider and the MAAC.

A member of the NCAA Division I Women's Soccer Committee from 1997-2001, Torchia chaired the Northeast Regional Advisory Committee as part of that appointment. She is currently a member of the MAAC Gender Equity, Awards and Women's Basketball committees and formerly served on the ECAC Championships Cabinet as well as the ECAC Softball Championship and All-Star selection committees from 1997-2000. She was also the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference's (MAAC) representative to the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA) from 2006-2009.
