Caroline Pape Hired as Head Lacrosse Coach

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – Rider University Athletic Director Don Harnum has announced the hiring of Caroline Pape as the next head coach of the women's lacrosse program. Pape becomes the second head coach in the history of the program.

"I'd like to thank Don Harnum, Karin Torchia, and the entire search committee for this incredible opportunity," said Pape. "While the Rider Women's Lacrosse program is still young, it is thriving thanks to an amazing foundation. I look forward to working with this talented group of players to strengthen the program and succeed together. I recognize the strong sense of pride and tradition that exists at Rider, and I am honored to become part of this community."

Pape comes to Rider following four seasons at Moravian University, where she led the Greyhounds to a 38-34 overall record, including a 22-10 mark in Landmark Conference play, reaching the Landmark Conference Tournament in all four years. After leading the team to a 12-6 overall record and 6-1 conference mark in 2023, she was named the Landmark Conference Coach of the Year.

During her time in Bethlehem, Pape coached four IWLCA All-Region honorees, three Landmark Conference Players of the Year, on Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year, and 14 All-Conference selections. In 2023, she saw the Greyhounds defeat conference-rival University of Scranton for the first time in program history.

"Caroline has had a lot of successful experiences as a player, assistant coach, and head coach and I am confident she will continue to build our young women's lacrosse program into a consistent winner," said Harnum. "She understands and is committed to building a positive and competitive culture in which our student-athletes will thrive. I'd like to thank Senior Associate Athletic Director and Senior Women's Administrator, Karin Torchia, and the rest of the search committee for leading a successful search."

Prior to her time at Moravian, Pape spent two seasons as an assistant under former Rider head coach, Evan Mager, at FDU Florham, where the team went 18-4 in two seasons, including 16-1 in 2021, entering the NCAA Tournament undefeated at 16-0.

As a player with the Devils, Pape was a three-time All-MAC selection and the 2019 MAC Offensive Player of the Year. She was also named the team's MVP and an IWLCA First-Team All-Region honoree.
