Lacrosse Closes Out Season at Canisius

BUFFALO, NY – The Rider University women's lacrosse team was defeated in its season finale Saturday afternoon, falling at Canisius, 20-10. The Broncs end the year 1-16 overall and 0-8 in MAAC play, while the Golden Griffins improve to 12-4 on the year and 6-2 in league games.
 
Early in the first, the Broncs kept pace with Canisius, with goals from Hannah Kozik (Ellington, CT/Ellington) and Marissa Ross (Reisterstown, MD/Beth Tfiloh[FDU-Florham]) tying the game at 1-1 and 2-2, but the Golden Griffins would then go on a 5-0 run to take early control of the contest. Ross would add a tally late in the first to make it 7-3 after 15 minutes.
 
Canisius would score to open the second, but goals by Maggie Hance (Long Valley, NJ/West Morris Central), Ross, and Kayleigh Colleary (Buffalo, NY/Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart[Butler]) trimmed the Golden Griffins lead to 8-6. Canisius led 10-7 at the half.
 
Down 11-7, early in the second half, Colleary and Kozik found the back of the cage to get back within two at 11-9. At that point, Canisius pulled away with eight unanswered goals to go up 19-9 and secure the victory.

- Jamie Kubach (Philadelphia, PA/William Penn Charter[FDU-Florham]) got the start in net, playing all 60 minutes and making eight saves, taking the loss.
