EDISON, NJ – Rider University men's soccer junior midfielder
Momo Diop (Thies, Senegal/Prive Serigne Touba) has been selected MAAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, the league office today announced. Diop scored twice and added an assist in the Broncs' 1-0-1 week with a 2-0 win at Manhattan and a 2-2 tie at home against Marist. With his offensive production, Diop moved into the lead in the league with eight goals and 20 points.
Diop began the week with a goal in the Broncs' 2-0 win at Manhattan. His tally was the second in a two-goal flurry in 65 seconds in the second half to push Rider to three points. Diop then assisted
Jack McGeechan (Allendale, NJ/Northern Highlands Regional) in the second minute and scored the equalizer in the 84
th minute of the Broncs' 2-2 tie with Marist on Saturday.
The MAAC weekly honor is the first of Diop's career. He joins teammates McGeechan and
Bryan Akongo (
London, England/Harris Academy Orpington [Georgia State/Robert Morris]) in earning MAAC Offensive Player of the Week this season.
The Broncs wrap up the regular season Wednesday, when they play host to Mount St. Mary's. The match is set to begin at 4 p.m. on ESPN+. Following the match, the Broncs will host Senior Day ceremonies to honor their 11-member class.
