STATEN ISLAND, NY - The Rider Women's Track and Field team had an excellent showing at the Saint Thomas Aquinas Spartan Invite Friday night at Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.
In the field events, Rider swept the shot put as
Natya Glasco,
Chika Efobi, and
Rachel Lavigne went 1-2-3 on Staten Island. Glasco led the Broncs with another strong showing with a 13.91m mark, finishing first with her best mark since the 2022 MAAC Indoor Championships. Efobi placed second with a 12.97m mark and Lavigne rounded out the top three with a 12.25m mark. Glasco's weight throw of 17.91 won the event in the fourth-best throw in Rider history, with
Samantha Kamara finishing second at 16.09.
The 4x200m relay team of
Gina Rubio,
Hailey Palmer,
Valencia Gosser and
Samara Jones broke the Rider record for the second-straight year with a time of 1:42.76, besting the mark set by Palmer, Gosser, Jones and
Alenys Morales (1:43.35) last year. The prior Rider record of 1:43.71 was set in 2013.
Lydia Wallace shined in the 500 and 1000 meters, finishing third in the 500 in an ECAC Qualifying time of 44.92 and winning the 1000 in 3:04.17, good for ninth all-time at Rider.
Savannah Marcantonio picked up the win in the High Jump clearing 1.65m placing first for the first time in 2023-24.
Mariah Stephens was also able to get it done in both the 60m Hurdles (8.81) and the Triple Jump (11.79m), good for second place in both events.
