Men's Golf 6th After Two Rounds Saturday at Princeton Invitational

Bekefi, Giovacchini tied for 13th at two under

PRINCETON, NJ – Connor Bekefi (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) and Louie Giovacchini (Windermere, FL/Windermere) are both tied for 13th individually and the Rider University men's golf team is tied for sixth after two rounds at the Princeton Invitational Saturday at Springdale Golf Club. Bekefi and Giovacchini both stand two under par, while the Broncs shot one-under 283 in the first round and one-over 285 in the second to stand at even par (568) for the tournament.

Bekefi and Giovacchini both shot consecutive one-under 70's on the Par 71 course to accomplish their two-under scores of 140. Participating as an individual, Zander Gibson (Concord, OH/Notre Dame Cathedral Latin) shot consecutive 71's for an even-par 142 and stands tied for 23rd. Rick van der Nat (Noordwijk, The Netherlands/Visser 't Hooft) shot even-par 71 in the first round and one-over 72 in the second for a 143 on the day, good for a tie for 32nd. Ben Ortwein (Easton, PA/Notre Dame) is tied for 51st following a 74 and 73 in his first two rounds, while Jack Urban (Upper St. Clair, PA/Upper St. Clair) rounded out the Broncs' competitors at 148 (+6), shooting 72 in the first round and 76 in the second.

NOTES
- Harvard's Brian Ma leads the individual scoring at 133 (-9), two strokes ahead of the field.
- Harvard leads the team scoring at 555 (-13), six strokes ahead of Princeton (561).
- The Broncs are the only MAAC program in competition, joined by seven Ivy League programs, Seton Hall and Georgetown from the Big East, Howard, Temple and Saint Joseph's.  
- Rider's 113 pars over the first two rounds are second only to Harvard's 116.
- Bekefi played the Par 3's at two under, the second-best score of the tournament through two rounds.

UP NEXT

The Broncs close out play at the Princeton Invitational with the final 18 holes Sunday. The shotgun start is scheduled for 10 a.m. with the Broncs beginning on the seventh, eighth and ninth holes.
