Broncs Break DMR Record at 127th Penn Relays

Jordan O’Neill, Hailey Palmer, Olivia de la Torre Coca, and Teagan Schein-Becker break the Rider record in the DMR

PHILADELPHIA, PA and EWING, NJ-  Jordan O'Neill, Hailey Palmer, Oliva de la Torre Coca, and Teagan Schein-Becker would break the Rider record in the DMR with a time of 11:29.54 at the 127th running of Penn Relays at the University of Pennsylvania and Franklin Field. The team would finish fourth overall in University City.

The DMR team would shatter the previous Rider record in the outdoor DMR set back in 2013 by Megan Elgin, Ashley Edwards, Madeline Hummel, and Emily Ritter setting the record of 11:48.25 at the Penn Relays over 10 years ago.

Palmer and Schein-Becker would previously run together as a part of the indoor DMR teams that broke the school record twice in the indoor season. For Schein-Becker she would put her name in the Rider record book for the fourth time in the outdoor season after setting program records in the 1500m at the Colonial Relays and 800m at the Virginia Challenge while also being a part of the 4x1500m team with de la Torre Coca and O'Neill at the Colonial Relays earlier this month.

The Broncs would also get another solid performance at Franklin Field as Samara Jones, Mariah Stephens, Valencia Gosser, Alenys Morales would hit a ECAC/IC4A qualifying mark in the 4x100m. The team would finish 15th overall with a time of 47.76.

Over in Ewing, Samantha Kamara would be the first top 3 finish for the Broncs taking 3rd in the Hammer Throw with a mark of 47.87m.

Also at the Lion Invite, Sarah Eskew and Krisantha Spencer would both finish in the top three taking 2nd and 3rd respectively with times of 4:45.04 and 4:48.33.

QUOTES AND NOTES

"We had some good performances in challenging conditions today at Penn Relays…The women's DMR set a program record by over 18 seconds finishing 4th in the college section. The women ran well and competed at a high level today. They were hoping to be closer to the front but that wasn't in the cards today…Kamara, Tapia, Eskew, and Spencer all had top 3 finishes today. They are trending the right way going into MAACs."- Rider Head Coach Bob Hamer

Rider Women's Track and Field will be back in action at the Penn Relays and TCNJ Lion Invite tomorrow April 29th.
