Men's Golf Wraps Up Hartford Hawks Invitational Play

Giovacchini, van der Nat finish tied for 24th; Broncs finish 14th of 16 teams

SOUTH KENT, CT – Louie Giovacchini (Windermere, FL/Windermere) and Rick van der Nat (Noordwijk, The Netherlands/Visser 't Hooft) tied for 24th at one-over par (217) for the tournament as the Rider University men's golf team finished 14th of 16 teams at the Hartford Hawks Invitational Tuesday at Bulls Bridge Golf Club. The Broncs finished their second round that was suspended with two holes to play Monday with a 287 Tuesday morning, before shooting 305 in the final round for an 887 (+23) three-round score.

van der Nat and Giovacchini both broke par in the middle round, shooting 70 (-2) and 71 (-1), respectively, before both turned in final-round 74's (+2). Jack Urban (Upper St. Clair, PA/Upper St. Clair) matched van der Nat's 70 in the second round, before shooting 73 (+1) in the final round to finish the tournament a stroke back of his teammates at 218 (+2, 32nd). But with freshman Ben Ortwein (Easton, PA/Notre Dame) withdrawing after one round, the Broncs were left with little room for error. Connor Bekefi (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) rounded out the Broncs' scores with a 236 (+20, 88th).
