Bocher Scores First Collegiate Goal, Men's Soccer Plays NJIT to 2-2 Draw

Broncs, Highlanders settle for tie after 90 minutes

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJMo Bocher (Powell, OH/Univ. of Nebraska HS) scored his first goal as the Bronc as the Rider University men's soccer team played NJIT to a 2-2 tie Sunday evening on Ben Cohen Field. With the tie, the Broncs move to 1-4-1, while the Highlanders are now 2-3-2.

The scoring opened in the 11th minute, as an NJIT back kicked a Rider cross into the net, putting the Broncs on top, 1-0. Just over a minute later, the Highlanders got the goal back, as Jose Del Valle finished a Jordi Navio Sanchez assist at 11:58. The Broncs would take a 2-1 lead into the second half, with Bocher finishing on a back-heel flick in front following Jack McGeechan's (Allendale, NJ/Northern Highlands Regional) cross from left-to-right to Lenny Cidolit (Montpellier, France/Montpellier Univ.) at the right post, before Cidolit re-centered in front to Bocher for the score.

Still a one-goal Rider advantage into the 65th minute, the Highlanders equalized at 64:34, with Justin Aguirre-Rosas sending what looked like a cross in front with two NJIT players making runs in front of the mouth of goal. The ball evaded players from both teams and snuck inside the left post for the equalizer. The two teams played the final 25+ minutes scoreless, including a save of a Babacar Diene (Thies, Senegal/CEM Ballabey) penalty kick by NJIT keeper Samuel Reisgys in the 85th minute as the two teams settled for the draw.

Quotes & Notes
"I didn't think we had a good first half. I think we kind of succumbed to the heat and didn't play with a lot of enthusiasm. Guillaume Sarrabayrouse has been outstanding for us and he was out today. But you can't make excuses. I thought we fought hard in the second half and did some good things. There's no reason not to be optimistic. But you'd rather have a better record than 1-4-1." – Rider Head Coach Charlie Inverso
