PRINCETON, NJ – Princeton scored a goal less than three minutes into regulation and never looked back in a 3-0 win over the Rider University men's soccer team Friday night on Sherrerd Field. With the loss, the Broncs fall to 1-5-1, while the Tigers are now 3-2-1.
The Tigers opened the scoring on a James Wangsness goal in the third minute. Wangsness collected a poor clearance near the top of the 18-yard box and deposited it past
Guillaume Veinante (Bayonne, France/Faculte des métier de Rennes) for the 1-0 lead. The Rider deficit would remain 1-0 at the half.
In the 54
th minute, Ryan Claire gave Princeton an insurance goal on a header in front off a Mateo Godoy cross. Claire would go for the brace in the 63
rd minute, knocking in the rebound of a shot that was initially saved by
Jack McGeechan (Allendale, NJ/Northern Highlands Regional) on the goal line off a Princeton corner kick.
