Men's Golf Stands 11th of 15 Teams After Two Rounds at Princeton Invitational

Giovacchini shoots two-under 69 in opening round

PRINCETON, NJ – Louie Giovacchini (Windermere, FL/Windermere) shot two-under 69 in the first round and stands tied for 18th at one-over after two rounds, while the Rider University men's golf team is 11th of 15 teams following two rounds at the Princeton Invitational Saturday. The Broncs shot 290 in the opening round and 294 in the second to stand +16 on the Par 71 Springdale Golf Club course.

Giovacchini fired a two-under 69 in the opening round before shooting three-over 74 in the second. Rick van der Nat (Noordwijk, The Netherlands/Visser' t Hooft) shot one-over 72 in the first and two-over 73 in the second to stand tied for 34th at three-over for the tournament. Two shots back of van der Nat at +5 is Austin Devereux (Brielle, NJ/Manasquan), while Connor Bekefi (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) and Jack Urban (Upper St. Clair, PA/Upper St. Clair) are both tied for 57th at eight over.

- Host Princeton entered a pair of foursomes that finished 1-2 on the day.
- The Tigers' William Huang leads the individual leaderboard by four strokes at seven-under after shooting 67 and 68 in the first two rounds, respectively. Three of his teammates are tied for second at three under.
- The field consists of all eight Ivies, Seton Hall, Temple, Saint Joseph's, Georgetown and Howard.  

UP NEXT

The Broncs close out Princeton Invitational action tomorrow morning at Springdale Golf Club. The Broncs then get a final tune-up for MAAC Championships at Villanova's Wildcat Spring Invitational, April 18-19, at Radnor Valley Country Club.
