Urban, Men's Golf Rocket Up Leaderboard to Finish 3rd at Wildcat Spring Invitational

Urban finishes fourth individually

VILLANOVA, PA – Jack Urban (Upper St. Clair, PA/Upper St. Clair) shot a one-under 69 to finish two-over and place fourth for the tournament (142) as the Rider University men's golf team shot 289 for the day, 585 for the tournament and jump seven spots to third of 15 teams Tuesday at the Wildcat Invitational, hosted by Villanova at Radnor Valley Country Club Tuesday. The 289 was second only to tournament winner Marquette (285) on the day, while Urban's 69 matched the low score on the day, along with medalist and nationally-ranked No. 88 Hunter Eichorn of Marquette and Ryan Tall of Lafayette.

Following his even-par 70 in the first round Monday, Rick van der Nat (Noordwijk, The Netherlands/Visser 't Hooft) shot five-over 75 Tuesday to finish at five over (145), good for a tie for eighth. Austin Devereux (Brielle, NJ/Manasquan) also shot 75 Tuesday to finish the tournament at nine-over (149), while Louie Giovacchini (Windermere, FL/Windermere) and Connor Bekefi (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) rounded on the Broncs' competitors. Giovacchini and Bekefi each shaved seven strokes off their Monday scores to shoot 72 and 73 Tuesday, respectively.

- Urban played his best golf on the Par 5's (-2), while also playing the Par 4's at even par.
- Marquette won the team title at 566 (+5) for the tournament. LIU (582) finished second, three strokes ahead of the Broncs (585) and St. John's (585).
- The Broncs finished ahead of Bucknell (587), Lafayette (589), William & Mary (590), Villanova (593), Delaware (595), Colgate (595), Binghamton (600), Lehigh (603), La Salle (603), Saint Joseph's (608) and Villanova's B Team (629).   
- Eichorn was the medalist at 137 (-3). Delaware's Sahasawat Ariyachatvakin (138, -2) and Marquette's Tyler Leach (139, -1) were the only other competitors to finish ahead of Urban.  

UP NEXT

The Broncs return to action Friday, when they begin play at MAAC Championships at Disney's Magnolia Golf Course in Lake Buena Vista, FL. The second and third rounds follow on Saturday and Sunday.
