Men's Golf Finishes Third at Battle at Rum Pointe

Devereux shoots one-under Sunday to lead Rider with sixth-place finish

BERLIN, MD – Austin Devereux (Brielle, NJ/Manasquan) shot one-under 71 to finish the Battle at Rum Pointe at even par and tied for sixth as the Rider University men's golf team shot 299 (+11) Sunday and 593 (+17) for the tournament to finish third. The Broncs tied with Fairfield and Bucknell for third, behind Rhode Island (575, -1) and Harvard (589, +13).

Devereux's round featured five birdies and four bogeys. Connor Bekefi (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) shot one-over 73 Sunday, while Rick van der Nat (Noordwijk, The Netherlands/Visser' t Hooft) was next at four-over 76. Louie Giovacchini (Windermere, FL/Windermere) and Jack Urban (Upper St. Clair, PA/Upper St. Clair) rounded out the Broncs' competitors at +7 and +9 on the day, respectively.

Bekefi finished the tournament at four-over, good for 17th out of 120 golfers. Giovacchini and van der Nat each finished at eight-over, good for a tie for 43rd, while Urban was tied for 64th at 10-over.

- Rhode Island's Jordan Brajcich and Cornell's Samuel King tied atop the individual leaderboard at =4 (140) for the tournament.
- Devereux was the top finisher among MAAC competitors, a stroke better than Fairfield's Jason Salameno (145, +1).
- Seven of nine MAAC men's golf teams competed, with the Broncs and Stags atop the field at 593 (+17). Monmouth (603, +27), Iona (A) (609, +33), Saint Peter's (613, +37), Siena (614, +38), Iona B (628, +52) and Manhattan (641, +65) rounded out the MAAC field.
