Men's Golf Finishes 9th of 14 Teams at UConn Invitational at GreatHorse

Urban leads Broncs in 15th place individually

HAMPDEN, MA – Jack Urban (Upper St. Clair, PA/Upper St. Clair) shot a one-over 73 Tuesday to lead the Rider University men's golf team in the final round at the UConn Invitational at GreatHorse. Urban was also the Broncs' top finisher at 224 (+8), as the Rider finished ninth of 14 teams at 916 (309-300-307, +52) for the three-day, three-round tournament.

Rick van der Nat (Noordwijk, The Netherlands/Visser 't Hooft) entered the day in the top 10, but fell to 27th with a seven-over 79. Zander Gibson (Concord, OH/Notre Dame Cathedral Latin) shot 78 for the day and 232 for the tournament, while Louie Giovacchini (Windermere, FL/Windermere) shot 80 for the day and 235 for the three rounds. Connor Bekefi (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) shot a tournament-best 77 on Tuesday and 238 for the tournament.

- The Broncs (916, +52, 9th) were one of three MAAC programs playing in the tournament, joining Siena (896, +32, 5th) and Iona (941, +77, 11th).
- St. John's (885, +21) won the team title, four strokes ahead of Seton Hall.   
- Rhode Island's Brandon Gillis led wire-to-wire for medalist honors. For the tournament, he shot eight-under 208, seven strokes ahead of the field.

The Broncs return to action Sunday, when they begin play at the Bucknell Invitational at Bucknell Golf Course in Lewisburg, PA.
