Artie Burgess Earns MAAC Track Performer of the Week

Burgess earns top MAAC weekly honor in collegiate debut

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – Rider University freshman men's track & field student-athlete Artie Burgess (Coatesville, PA/Coatesville) has been named MAAC Men's Track Performer of the Week, the league office today announced. The freshman won the 100 in 10.86 and the 200 in 21.61 at the Penn Challenge in his first-ever collegiate meet. Both were lifetime best marks and the 200 is a Rider Top Ten mark. He is currently No. 1 in the MAAC in both events.

"Artie had a tremendous first-ever collegiate meet," said Rider Head Coach Bob Hamer. "He was very impressive and we are very excited for him. This is a well-deserved honor."

The Broncs return to action Saturday, when they host the Rider 5-Way. Action begins from the Michael P. Brady Track & Field Complex at noon. Admission will only be granted to two family members of each Rider track & field student-athlete, subject to Rider's Family Member Attendance Policy.
