Tomas Chosen as NEC Defensive Player of the Week, Divorra NEC Prime Performer

SOMERSET, NJ – Kaitlyn Tomas (Campbellville, Ontario/Appleby College) of the Rider University field hockey team was named NEC Defensive Player of the Week by the league on Monday. In addition, teammate Julia Divorra (Terrassa, Spain/Vedruna Vall) was selected as a Prime Performer.

Tomas won both games in goal for the Broncs during the week. In the win over Merrimack, Tomas made three saves and the lone goal she conceded came on a penalty stroke. Against Lock Haven, the Junior made four saves to earn the victory. It marks the second time this season Tomas was named NEC Defensive Player of the Week.

Divorra scored the game-winning goal in both of Rider's victories this week. For the season, the senior leads the NEC with five game-winning goals.

The Broncs are back in action on Friday when they continue NEC play at Fairfield at 4 p.m.
