Game Recap: Field Hockey |

Field Hockey Topped by Fairfield in NEC Semifinals

FAIRFIELD, CT – The Rider University field hockey team saw its season come to a close in the NEC Semifinals Thursday morning, falling 2-0 to the top-seed and host Fairfield. The Broncs end the season at 8-10. While the Stags advance to the NEC Championship Game and improve to 14-5.

Following a scoreless opening quarter, the Stags broke through in the second quarter on a penalty corner when Jade Regnart (Cape Town, South Africa/Fairmont) got a stick on a Fairfield shot, but the deflection still made its way into the net to give Fairfield the lead. The Stags had another opportunity late in the first half, but Regnart made an incredible blocker save on a point-blank shot to keep the deficit at just one at the break.

Early in the third, the Stags struck again to make it a two-goal game. The Broncs were unable to get any meaningful chances for the remainder of the game, and saw their season come to a close.
