LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – Rider University Athletics posted a 93 percent Graduation Success Rate (GSR) in the most recent Division I GSR data released by the NCAA. MAAC athletic programs cumulatively posted a 95 percent GSR, ranking in a three-way tie for second among all 32 Division I conferences. Eight Rider teams – baseball, men's cross country and track & field, men's golf, men's swimming & diving, men's and women's tennis, women's basketball and volleyball – posted perfect 100 GSR's and all 20 teams posted a GSR over the national average in their respective sports.
The NCAA GSR report gives graduation information for students and student-athletes who entered college in 2013, the most recent class for which the required six years of information is available. It also breaks down the GSR by sport, using a four-year class average (2010-2013) called a cohort rate to provide a big enough sample. The GSR formula removes from the rate student-athletes who leave school while academically eligible and includes student-athletes who transfer to a school after initially enrolling elsewhere.
"Once again, our coaches and student-athletes should be lauded for their commitment to prioritizing academic success and achieving their graduation goals," said
Greg Busch, Rider's Senior Associate Athletic Director for Compliance and Internal Operations. "Specifically, it's commendable to see so many of our teams surpass the national average for their sport."
