Baseball Welcomes Marist in Showdown Between MAAC’s Top Two Teams

What You Need to Know
- The Broncs return home Thursday to open a three-game series with Marist, featuring the top two teams in the MAAC. Rider and the Red Foxes both sit at 10-2 in conference play.
- Kyle Neri and Will Gallagher enter the weekend riding 22-game on-base streaks, reaching safely in every game this season. Anthony Paskell has extended his hitting streak to 11 games, while Eliot Medlock carries a 10-game hitting streak.
- Rider has reached double digits in scoring 10 times this season, posting a 10-1 record in those games.

About the Broncs
- Rider continues to swing a hot bat, leading the MAAC with a .300 team average.
- Neri paces the lineup, hitting .392 with 38 hits, 28 RBI, four home runs, seven doubles, and 24 runs scored. He ranks second in the conference in both batting average and RBI.
- Erich Hartmann and Eliot Medlock share the team lead with eight doubles each, while Gallagher leads the team with 25 walks.
- Six Broncs are hitting above .300: Neri (.392), Hartmann (.343), Gallagher (.325), Nick Shuhet (.322), Charley Magoulick (.312), and Paskell (.304). Paskell also leads the team with five home runs.
- Defensively, Rider has been one of the nation's best, leading Division I with a .987 fielding percentage and just 11 errors on the year. 
- Neri also ranks among the nation's top hitters, sitting sixth in Division I with an average of 1.81 hits per game.
- On the mound, PJ Craig leads the staff with a 3.89 ERA over 34.2 innings, totaling 35 strikeouts with a 2-1 record. 
- Out of the bullpen, Christian Aiello has been dominant, posting a 6-1 record with 29 strikeouts over 22.2 innings.
- Rider is coming off one of the best seasons in program history, finishing 34-18 overall and 22-6 in MAAC play, just two wins shy of the single-season program record.
- The Broncs captured the MAAC Regular Season title, clinching it against Fairfield Stags in the regular-season finale for the first time since 2015 before falling to Fairfield in the MAAC - Championship Series.
- Eight starters return on offense, led by 2025 All-MAAC First Team selection Neri and MAAC All-Rookie Team honoree Magoulick.
- Neri batted .324 last season, ranking third on the team with 69 hits, 14 doubles, six home runs, and 43 RBIs.
- Magoulick had a standout freshman season, hitting .315 with 52 hits, six home runs, and 31 RBIs, including a walk-off homer against Fairfield that secured the regular-season title.
- Hartmann returns for his senior season after hitting .351 with 71 hits and 53 runs scored, both second on the team. His batting average ranked eighth in the MAAC last season.
- Matt Leahy was a stealing machine last season leading the Broncs with 14 stolen bases. 
- Shuhet hit .317, ranking second on the team with 57 RBIs and eight home runs. His RBI total ranked seventh in the MAAC a year ago.
- Craig, Clayton Poliey, and Kyle Batt all return to anchor the Broncs on the mound in 2026.
- Rider received one first-place vote and was selected second in the 2026 MAAC Preseason Coaches' Poll. Neri was the lone Bronc named to the Preseason All-MAAC Team.
- The Broncs made their 10th appearance in the MAAC Championship Game last season.
- Dr. Barry Davis returns as Acting Head Coach for the 2026 campaign. Over 20 seasons leading the program, Davis has built Rider into a perennial MAAC contender, winning four conference tournament titles, two regular-season championships, and guiding the Broncs to 13 conference tournament appearances. He owns a 1,031-700 career record.

Last Time Out
- Rider is coming off a 10-5 victory over Delaware in the opening round of the Liberty Bell Classic, highlighted by a seven-run fifth inning.
- The Broncs outhit the Blue Hens 15-6, with Eliot Medlock leading all hitters with three hits, all doubles.

History vs. Marist
- Rider holds a narrow 23-22 edge in the all-time series dating back to 2008.
- The two teams last met a season ago, when the Broncs swept the Red Foxes in a three-game series on the road.

Scouting the Red Foxes
- Marist enters the weekend at 10-17 overall and 10-2 in MAAC play. 
- The Red Foxes are coming off an 11-9 loss to NJIT on Mar. 31 after sweeping Siena in a three-game set from Mar. 27-30.
- As a team, Marist is batting .277 while allowing opponents to hit .298.
- Kyle Pollack leads the lineup with a .358 average, totaling 24 hits, 20 RBI, five doubles, and two home runs. 
- Nathan Lincoln paces the team in hits (36) and RBI (28) while batting .356.
- On the mound, Will Taylor leads the staff with 31.2 innings pitched, allowing 28 hits and 20 runs while striking out 26 batters.
