Tyere Marshall (Philadelphia, PA/Martin Luther King/Putnam Science),
Frederick Scott (Munster, IN/Simeon [DePaul]) and
Dimencio Vaughn (New York, NY/Callaway/The Masters School) all compiled double-doubles as the Rider University men's basketball team won its fourth-straight game, 89-74, over LIU Saturday afternoon at Alumni Gym. With the win, the Broncs improve to 6-2, while the Sharks are now 3-7.
After LIU scored eight of the first 11 points to open the game, Rider responded with 13-3 spurt to establish a lead. Rider retook the lead on a pair of free throws from
Kimar Williams (Philadelphia, PA/Constitution [Florida International) at the 8:03 mark and a 9-0 run soon thereafter, including four points each from
Stevie Jordan (Bensalem, PA/Conwell-Egan/API) and
Frederick Scott (Munster, IN/Simeon [DePaul]), pushed Rider's lead to 11. The Broncs maintained a 40-31 advantage after 20 minutes. Vaughn completed his double-double in the opening stanza with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Rider's strong second-half play this season continued, as the Broncs used a 17-1 run to open a 25-point lead, 66-41, with just under 10 minutes remaining. The lead extended to 26 with just over eight minutes remaining, before Rider emptied the bench. LIU put on a full-court press and whittled the Broncs' advantage to 12. But the Rider starters returned and quickly pushed the advantage back to 21.

- Rider is now 20-17 against the Division I iteration of LIU. Prior to this season, LIU's Brooklyn and CW Post campuses created a joint athletic department, merging the prior Division I and II programs. With Rider's 3-0 record against CW Post, the Broncs are 23-17 against all LIU programs.
- Rider had three players with double-doubles for the first time since Jan. 30, 1996, when Charles Smith (20 points, 11 rebounds), Dmitri Charles (18 points, 14 rebounds) and Deon Hames (12 points, 12 assists) turned the trick. Smith and Hames also contributed to three Broncs with double-doubles, along with Greg Burston 10 days prior on Jan. 20, 1996, against Saint Francis (Pa.).
- Through the 1995-96 season, there is no other instance on record of three Rider double-doubles, all utilizing points, rebounds and assists. Full box scores are not available prior to the 1995-96 season.
- The closest the Broncs came to having three players with double-doubles in recent memory came in the 2016-17 season finale, when
Stevie Jordan (19 points, 12 rebounds) and
Kahlil Thomas (13 points, 10 rebounds) had double-doubles and
Xavier Lundy (13 points, nine rebounds) came a board away from joining them.

Broncs by the Numbers
- After utilizing second-half runs of 17-0, 25-0 and 15-1 in its last three games, Rider won its fourth-straight game by utilizing a 17-1 run today.
- Marshall compiled his MAAC-leading fourth double-double of the year with 20 points and 12 rebounds. He made 8-of-11 attempts from the floor.
- Scott scored a team-high 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for his third double-double of the year.
- Vaughn completed his double-double by the end of the first half and finished with 18 points and a career-high-tying 13 rebounds.
- Led by Marshall's four double-doubles, three from Scott and two more from Vaughn, Rider has nine double-doubles on the season as a team. The Broncs finished with seven double-doubles in the entire 2018-19 season. Marshall has surpassed his total of three from last season, while Scott has matched his three double-doubles. Vaughn did not have a double-double or a double-digit rebounding game last season.

Christian Ings (Philadelphia, PA/Neumann-Goretti) also finished with 10 points for his fourth double-digit scoring output in eight games played in his freshman campaign.
- Jordan contributed six points, five rebounds, five assists and three steals. He'd scored in double figures in each of the Broncs' first seven games this season.
- LIU took a 41.9 percent (26-62) to 39.2 percent (31-79) edge from the floor.
- Rider dominated the glass, outrebounding the Sharks, 57-36. The Broncs have now outrebounded each of their first eight opponents.
- The Broncs took a 52-34 edge in points in the paint and a 24-4 advantage in second-chance points.
