LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – Lysander Payano Almonte (New Brunswick, NJ/Colegio Quusquey/Rockland C.C.) and Griffin Clark (Lititz, PA/Manheim Township) earned singles victories, but an undermanned Rider University men's tennis team fell to Coppin State, 5-2, Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Broncs move to 0-7 on the season, while Eagles are now 1-4.

The Broncs played with just five players in the line-up for the second-straight match, meaning an automatic loss in one singles and one doubles flight. The two teams split the two remaining doubles flights, but the Eagles took the doubles point by virtue of the forfeit. Payano Almonte and Clark defeated Gabriel Franca and Andres Diaz, 6-2, at No. 1 doubles.

Payano Almonte also got the best of Gavin Lewis at No. 2 singles, winning by a score of 6-3, 6-1. Clark defeated Franca, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 4, but Coppin State took the remaining three matches to clinch the 5-2 victory.

The Broncs return to action Monday, when they play host to Loyola (Md.) at 2 p.m.
