LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ - The Rider University men's tennis team now knows its first round opponent in the NCAA Tournament, as the Broncs will travel to Charlottesville, to take on the University of Virginia in the first round Friday. Match times will be announced at a later date.
The Broncs will make their first-ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament after winning the MAAC Tournament Sunday for the first time in program history.
Cole Thurgur completed a perfect dual season in singles play, going 16-0 during the season, including wins on court one in both the MAAC Semifinals and Finals to earn MAAC Player of the Year and MAAC Tournament MVP Honors. He was joined on the All-MAAC First Team in Singles by
Matteus Froberg Dahlin and on the Second Team by
Nathan Slattery. Thurgur and Froberg Dahlin were also the lone team unanimously named First-Team All-MAAC in doubles.
Heath Paul Waters and Ibragim Turgembekov earned All-MAAC Third Team honors, capping the historic season that saw the Broncs earn their highest-ever seed in the MAAC Tournament.
