LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – The Rider University women's swimming and diving team defeated visiting Siena, 163-101, on Saturday afternoon in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) dual-meet action at Coppola Pool.
The Broncs (1-1, 1-0 MAAC) defeated the Saints (0-1, 0-1 MAAC) for the second straight season.
Rider was dominant, building an early lead. The Broncs won the first 11 events of the day behind a handful of strong performances.
Freshman
Caylie Cardona (Manalapan, NJ/Manalapan) had a solid day in the pool for Rider, picking up a pair of wins. She finished first in the 100 breast with a time of 1:07.89 and she was also the top finisher in the 200 breast at 2:28.66.
Freshman
Aubrey Marish (South Plainfield, NJ/South Plainfield) recorded her first collegiate dual-meet win thanks to finishing first in the 1,000 free with a mark of 10:55.17.
Sophomore
Maeve Lersch (Pittsburgh, PA/Upper Saint Clair HS) won the 100 back with a time of 1:01.73 to just edge the second-place finisher by .18 seconds.
Junior
Olivia Iswalt (Reading, PA/Berks Catholic) was the other upperclassmen to win on Saturday. Iswalt finished first in the 50 free with a mark of 24.76.
Four other freshmen were victorious for the Broncs on Saturday.
Kyra Schwerzler (Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Regional) won the 200 free at 2:00.12,
Kylie McMahon (Annapolis, MD/Saint Mary's) won the 200 fly with a time of 2:08.69,
Anastasia Aleksandrova (North Bruswick, NJ/North Brunswick Township) finished first in the 100 free at 54.78 and
Kayla May (Columbia, MD/Oakland Mills) won the 200 back at 2:10.55.
In the diving events, junior
Meg Tomayko (Murfreesboro, TN/Siegel) and senior
Breanne Hatter (Lincroft, NJ/Middletown HS South) both performed well. Tomayko won the 1M event with a score of 255.82, while Hatter finished in second at 239.55.
