DEAL, NJ – Freshman
Austin Devereux (Brielle, NJ/Manasquan) carded a 70 as the Rider University men's golf team finished second at the Monmouth Fall Invitational at Deal Golf & Country Club Thursday. After shooting three-straight rounds of 294 or better at the Hartford Hawk Invitational Monday and Tuesday, the Broncs made it four straight with a 294 Thursday.
Devereux's one-under score was good for the second-best round and a tie for third on the leaderboard. Fellow freshman
Andrew Forjan (York, PA/York Catholic) fired a two-over 73 to finish ninth, while sophomore
Forrest Swisher (Titusville, NJ/Hopewell Valley Central) rounded out the Broncs in the top 10 of the six-team field with a 74.
Junior
Eder Moreno (Madrid, Spain/Lander/Saint Helena) led the Broncs, shooting a two-under 214 to finish tied for 12
th. Sophomore
Jake Sollon (Venetia, PA/Peters Township) was a shot back of Moreno at one-under 215, while freshman
Andrew Forjan (York, PA/York Catholic) was next with a nine-over 225.
NOTES
- The Broncs line-up consisted of Devereux, Forjan, Swisher,
Eder Moreno (Madrid, Spain/Lander/Saint Helena) and
Jake Sollon (Venetia, PA/Peters Township).
- Devereux had a Monmouth Fall Invitational-best five birdies on the round. Swisher also added three birdies. Forjan, Moreno and Sollon each added a pair of birdies.
- Swisher made up ground with the second-best performance on Par 5's at three-under.
UP NEXT
The Broncs return to action Oct. 9, when they take part in the Connecticut Cup, hosted by the University of Connecticut at Ellington Ridge Country Club in Ellington, CT.
