Field Hockey Faces Lock Haven on Friday

The non-conference contest is the finale at home for the Broncs in 2017

What You Need To Know
- Rider will play its sixth and final home contest on the season on Friday, October 27, coming off a 3-2 overtime non-conference loss at Villanova on Sunday.
- The Broncs are 3-2 at home this autumn.
- Last time out, the Bald Eagles lost to Bucknell, 2-1.  
- Rider is 0-2 in overtime games this year.
- The Broncs are 2-7 in one-goal games in 2017.
- Rider has allowed one goal or fewer in each of their five MAAC games this autumn.
- The Broncs are outscoring opponents, 19-7, in the second half in 2017.
- Lena Vandam and Brittany Romanczuk were honored by the MAAC with weekly awards as announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon. Vandam was tabbed as the MAAC Defensive Player of the Week and Romanczuk was named the MAAC Rookie of the Week.
- Romanczuk recorded five points as the Broncs went 1-1 last week. In a 3-0 MAAC win versus Sacred Heart, Romanczuk scored two goals, including the game-winner. She capped the week with her first career assist in a non-conference setback at Villanova.
- Four Rider first-year players have been honored by the MAAC. Eline De Jong was named the MAAC Rookie of the Week on August 29, goalkeeper Lena Vandam was tabbed as the MAAC Defensive Player of the Week on three times, Brittany Romanczuk was the MAAC Rookie of the Week on October 24 and Kaitlyn Flemming was honored as the MAAC Rookie of the Week twice.
 - This season, Vandam is 8-8 with 1.43 goals-against average, a .775 save percentage and 79 saves. She has posted four shutouts and played over 1,100 minutes. She has made 10 or more saves three times in her young career. She leads the MAAC with a 0.81 goals-against average in conference play.
- Senior Allison Baligian leads the team in goals and points. She has scored seven times this fall and added four assists for 18 points. Baligian also has a team-best three game-winning goals in 2017.
- Senior Shannon Hughes leads the team with seven assists.
- Flemming and De Jong are tied for tops in the MAAC amongst freshmen with five goals.
