APALACHIN, NY –
Eder Moreno (Madrid, Spain/Lander/Saint Helena) shot a one-over 73 for the second-straight round as the Rider University men's golf team finished ninth at the Matthews Auto Collegiate Invitational at The Links at Hiawatha Landing. The Broncs shot 308 on the day and, with a 299 on Sunday, shot a two-round 607. Moreno finished tied for 11
th individually.
Freshman
Austin Devereux (Brielle, NJ/Manasquan) shot a 76 on Day 2 after carding a 75 yesterday to finish with the Broncs' second-best score, while
Jake Sollon (Venetia, PA/Peters Township) struggled with an 80 after shooting Rider's best score (72) in the first round.
QUOTES & NOTES
- The Broncs line-up consisted of Moreno, Sollon, Devereux,
Andrew Forjan (York, PA/York Catholic) and Forest Swisher (Titusville, NJ/Hopewell Valley Central).
- Moreno had a team-best six birdies on the day, but also carded five bogeys and a double bogey to finish one over.
- Devereux had two rough stretches of three-straight and four-straight bogeys. He parred or birdied the remaining 11 holes.
- Four of the 17 teams in the tournament field were MAAC members. Monmouth, Canisius and Niagara joined the Broncs this weekend.
