Rider at Colonial Relays Day Two
WILLIAMSBURG, VA—The Broncs are competing at the 51st annual Colonial Relays, hosted by the College of William and Mary Thursday-Saturday.
On Friday, for the Rider men sophomore Joe Clarke (Stockton, NJ/Delaware Valley) threw the hammer a PR 44.12m to place fourth and he threw the javelin 168'3” to also place fourth. “Joe has a great attitude and works really hard,” said Rider head coach Bob Hamer. “It was great to see the day he had today.”
Junior Johnathan Jackson (Roselle, NJ/Magnet) placed sixth overall, third among college runners, in the 800m with an IC4A time of 1:51.03. “He ran a really good race,” Hamer said. “That's the second fastest time he has run.”
Freshman Marcell Brown (Montclair, NJ/Montclair) placed fifth in the shot put (47'2.75”) and freshman Avery Killiebrew (Carney's Point, NJ/Penn's Grove) placed sixth in the long jump (21'6.75”).
For the Rider women, senior Madeline Hummel (Marlton, NJ/Holy Cross) placed 10th in the 400m hurdles (1:03.80). “She did a great job today in the intermediate hurdles,” Hamer said.
Senior Olivia Rosenberger (North Wales, PA/Gwynedd Mercy) placed 12th in the long jump (16'7.25”) and senior Stephanie Welte (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Basil's Academy) placed 14th in the 1500m (4:37.66).
Senior Daria Chadwick (Summit, NJ) ran the 100m hurdles in a PR 14.47 to place 10th in the prelims and qualify for the ECACs. “That was a great race,” Hamer said. “She's been on point. We're looking forward to tomorrow.”
Sophomore Lexie Fraction (Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) placed 14th in the prelims of the100m hurdles (14.63).
Sophomore Alexandra Santora (Douglasville, PA/Daniel Boone) placed 17th in the 3,000m steeplechase (11:42.212) and junior Megan McGarrity (Philadelphia, PA/Saint Basil) placed 24th in the 5000m (17:36.01). “Meg ran a great race in the 5K,” Hamer said.
Sophomore Victoria Brewer (Bensalem, PA/Bensalem) ran the 800m in 2:31.03 and senior Nicole Georgia (Lincoln Park, NJ/Boonton) ran a 1:05.8 in the 400m hurdles.
Freshman Tierra Taylor (Browns Mills, NJ/Pemberton) ran the100m dash in 12.67 in the prelims, freshman Jennifer Maurer (Trappe, PA/Perkiomen Valley) ran the 400m in 1:00.14, freshman Angela Cotugno (Parlin, NJ/Sayreville) set a PR in the 400m (1:01.57), senior Nicole Georgia (Lincoln Park, NJ/Boonton) ran a 1:05.8 in the 400m hurdles and freshman Morgyn Bennett (Wilmington, DE/Delcastle Tech) ran the 200m in 26.43.
Also for the Rider men sophomore Christin Patrick (East Orange/Seton Hall Prep.) placed seventh in the high jump (6'4.25”) and ran the 110 hurdles in 15.08 to place 18th.
Junior Kyle Bryant (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill East) placed seventh in the high jump (6'4.25”) and sophomore Shabazz Shuler (Long Branch, NJ/Long Branch) placed eighth in the long jump (21'6.25”).
Sophomore Tyree Adams (Hamilton, NJ/Hamilton West) placed 10th in the long jump (21'1.5”) and senior Charles Wilkes (Secane, PA/Cardinal O'Hara) placed 14th in the shot put (49'9.25”).
Freshman Dalin Hackley (Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) placed 17th in the 400 hurdles with a PR time of 55.05 and senior Jon Knipper (Randolph, NJ) placed 19th in the 3,000m steeplechase (9:57.75). Sophomore Anthony Ardino (Bloomfield, NJ/Bloomfield) ran the 800m in a PR 1:56.28 and sophomore Andrew Horberg (Somerset, NJ/St. Joseph's Metuchen) ran a PR 22.85 in the 200m.
Senior Justin Veltri (Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest) placed 39th in the 100m prelims (11.30), senior Dameon Haynes (Hamilton, NJ/Nottingham) ran the 400m in 50.77, freshman Russell Malko (Whitehouse Station, NJ/Hunterdon Central) ran the 400m in 51.09, junior Devon Jefferson (Franklin Park, NJ/Franklin) ran the 110 hurdles in 15.77 and Tim Farrar high jumped 6'2.25”.
Competition continues on Saturday.
