at Princeton's Larry Ellis Invitational-Day One
PRINCETON--The Rider University men's and women's track and field teams are competing at the Larry Ellis Invitational hosted by PrincetonUniversity Friday and Saturday.
The two day meet is being held at Princeton's Weaver Stadium.
“Tonight was a night where our performances were just average. We were hoping for a big bump with some athletes and we just didn't get that tonight,” head coach Bob Hamer said.
For the Rider men, sophomore George Solujich (East Windsor/Notre Dame) was 13th in the discuss throw (44.92m).
For the Ride women, junior Treasure Burke (Pennsauken/Basking Ridge) was 15th in the hammer throw (48.75m).
Also for the Rider men, freshman Charles Wilks (Secane, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) was 15th in the discuss throw (43.52m), sophomore Dylan Hallahan (Wrightstown/Northern Burlington) was 26th in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (9:28.77) and senior Greg Wesh (Hatboro, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) was 38th in the 800-meter run (1:54.46).
Also for the Rider women, Sophomore Emily Ritter (Millsboro, Del./Sussex Tech.) was 19th in the 1500-meter run (4:33.64) and senior Megan Elgin (Doylestown, Pa/Central Bucks East) was 39th in the 5,000-meter run (17:41.83).
“We come to a meet like this and you hope that a few of the athletes will have a 'holy cow' performance and, we didn't get that tonight. We'll continue to work hard and we're ready for a better day tomorrow,” Hamer said, “Our training and preparation is good so hopefully we'll put it together over the next few weeks.”
Competition will continue Saturday morning at Princeton.
