PHILADELPHIA, Pa.—The Rider University men's tennis team lost a non-conference match at Philadelphia University Tuesday afternoon.
“I know I sound like a broken record but we made too many unforced errors,” said head coach Ed Torres. “You have to keep the ball in play longer. We did that but we didn't do that enough on a consistent basis.”
For Rider, freshman Chanton Phan (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) lost 6-4, 6-3 at second singles, senior Nick Lubold (Carlisle, Pa./Cumberland Valley) lost 6-3, 6-4 at third singles and freshman Adam Levi (Princeton Junction/Pennington School) lost 6-4, 6-3 at fifth singles.
Phan and Levi had the most competitive doubles match, winning six games before losing 8-6 at second doubles.
“They are hustling and playing hard but the unforced errors did us in again,” Torres added.
The Rider women face Philadelphia University on Thursday. Both the men and women host Quinnipiac University in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference match on Saturday at noon.
